Migrants’ Rights Are Human Rights

“They are pushed back, they are detained, they are disappeared, they are killed.”

Ms. LeVoy, director of the Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM), participated in the roundtable on rights and migration at the 14th Global Forum on Migration and Development Summit, where she spoke about the increasing Human Rights violations migrants are suffering from:

“We heard about developments in different regions of the world. And they’re very disturbing because we hear about a degradation of simple realities that many people might take for granted: access to safety, right to life, access to health care. These rights are threatened throughout the world for people who are migrants.”

“It’s now even more urgent than ever to recognize that we have a global framework for human rights that’s threatened for migrants globally.”

Ms. LeVoy was interviewed during the first day of the 14th GFMD Summit, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 23 January 2024.
