For people from the Pacific islands, the effects of climate change are all too real. In the nation of Kiribati, people are forced to leave their ancestral lands because of the rise of ocean levels.
“We require assistance at the civil society level, at the private sector level, at the business level. All sectors need to speak to one another so that we may have a coordinated, cohesive plan going forward,” says Pefi Kingi, from the Pacific Islands Association of Non-Governmental Organizations.
Addressing climate change displacement requires global and financial assistance and expertise to implement solutions designed locally.
